Tevar Movie

Released date: 09 Jan 2015

Language: Hindi

RunningTime: 159 minutes

Plot Summary: "A small-town Kabaddi player sets off on a mission to save a girl from the clutches of a goon, who falls head over heels in love with her. Why? No, he’s not in love. But because he’s ‘Superman, Salman ka fan’. Oh, but he does fall in love! Amit Sharma’s debut directorial venture is a remake of the 2003 Telugu hit Okkadu. Pintu Shukla (Arjun Kapoor), Agra’s local boy is a happy-go-lucky chap. Except that he cannot tolerate disrespect towards a woman. In comes Gajender Singh (Manoj Bajpayee), brother of a politician who kills people in public places. His only quest is to marry the love of his life, Radhika (Sonakshi Sinha).

Pintu takes it upon himself to protect Radhika, thereby angering Gajender, the lover boy. Thus begins a run-of-the-mill chase that we’re all too familiar with. Tevar has all the makings of a complete entertainer – only glitch being a script that is done to death. Too late, maybe? With Tevar, Arjun’s transition from a chocolate boy to an action hero has somewhat reached midway. He has the rough look and the attitude, which convinces us that he’s capable of versatility. Sonakshi’s presence is hardly noticeable, making this yet another film that undermines her persona. Applaud in unison as we mention Manoj Bajpayee’s flawless performance once again on the big screen.

His terrific timing and dialogue delivery is one of the biggest reasons why Tevar deserves a watch. Raj Babbar as Pintu’s father delivers a class act too. Barring ‘Superman’ and ‘Radha’, the rest of the songs are unnecessary. The film runs at least 20-30 minutes longer than its course. By the time it draws to an end, we already know what’s going to happen, despite the momentary twists and turns. Safe to say that Arjun and Manoj have dominated the entire film, while Sonakshi has been wasted. Why you should watch the film? If you’re an Arjun Kapoor fan and want to see him in Salman’s shoes, Tevar is for you! Check out what the people have to say…"
